Janské Lázně – a town often referred to as a curious gateway to the highest mountains in the Czech Republic, the Krkonoše Mountains (Giant Mountains). It is located at a height of 616–1299 m above sea level. Each visitor preferring active relaxation in nature can always find something to do – Krkonoše National Park, ski centres and unforgettable tourist sites in the vicinity. The fresh mountain air has a beneficial effect on all people who like sports activities. The spa facility Janské Lázně is right in the middle of the town Janské Lázně. In 1935, upon gaining experience from the Warm Springs Spa in the USA, the first European sanatorium for the treatment of poliomyelitis was founded. Thanks to the important curative resource – thermal carbonic springs of 27 °C – and good rehabilitation methods the spa has become a place where people can improve and recover their health, even after suffering the most serious musculoskeletal system diseases and central and periphery neurological system diseases. Guests can also have unforgettable experiences visiting the magnificent Neorenaissance colonnade with Nouveau style ornaments, the park with peaceful and lonely paths, and taking in the charm of pleasing cafés and huts in the woods.
