Spas in the Czech Republic
The tradition of world famous Czech spas dates as far back as the medieval period when the first spas were established in the Czech lands. In the 19th century they had already become world renowned and treated leading world figures of the time from statesmen, aristocrats to artists.
One of the Czech spa facilities was the first in Europe to be awarded the EUROPESPA med© certificate in 2006 – a prestigious quality award of the European Spas Association in Brussels which is awarded to the selected European spas after a thorough inspection and audit of their operation. The Czech Republic is currently the country with the highest number of successfully completed certifications in the whole of the European Union.
This is not only why Czech spas attract both home and foreign visitors. Most of them head for the Karlovy Vary area which has the most abundant number of natural curative springs. You can find the famous spa triangle here consisting of Karlovy Vary, Mariánské Lázně and Františkovy Lázně. The world famous Jáchymov spa is also found nearby which uses a unique natural spring for treatment which is radioactive radon gas.
However you can find spas in all Czech regions and the scope of their services ranges from one-day wellness stays to several-week long therapeutic stays helping to improve chronic illnesses or provide post-operative convalescence.
You can find relief in Czech spas from many health problems such as those of the locomotive system, digestive problems, gynaecological and neurological diseases, as well as cancer treatment.
